Friends at Celebrate Hoover Day
Celebrate Hoover Day offers families, friends and neighbors a chance to enjoy a free day of fun together.
Celebrate Hoover Day, the city’s premier annual family-friendly festival, returns on April 25 from 11 am to 3 pm. Hosted at the scenic Veterans Park on Valleydale Road, this free community event is expected to draw between 10,000 and 15,000 attendees for a day of live entertainment and local traditions.
Family Fun and Community Activities
“As always, we’ll have kids’ activities, live entertainment, business exhibitors, document shredding for anyone who needs that service, and – of course – the pie,” says Erin Colbaugh, Hoover’s Director of Parks & Recreation. “It’s just basically a great day to come out to one of our most popular parks, meet up with friends, gather with your family, and just enjoy the day and being together.”

Pie at Celebrate Hoover Day
Enjoy a piece of Hoover tradition with this record-breaking, 2,000-lb pie topped with ice cream.
The highlight of the event is the cutting of a gigantic, record-breaking apple pie. This tradition began in 2010 when organizers sought a memorable way to celebrate the community. They decided on a massive, edible project that would leave a lasting impression on the City of Hoover.
The pie is a feat of engineering and culinary skill:
Preparation: Crafted by students from the Jefferson State Culinary & Hospitality Institute.
Construction: Assisted by the City of Hoover’s Building Services staff.
The Oven: A custom 12-foot by 12-foot oven built specifically for this yearly festival.
The Pan: A massive 10-foot by 11-inch pan used to bake the historic dessert.
Each serving is topped with ice cream, offering a true slice of Americana to celebrate the best of the Hoover community.
Event Logistics: Food, Parking, and Sponsors
While the entertainment and the famous pie are free, additional food and beverages will be available for purchase from local food trucks and vendors.
Parking Information: Convenient parking is located directly at Veterans Park and nearby at Spain Park High School.
Celebrate Hoover Day is proudly sponsored by the City of Hoover.
