This year's Bluff Park Art Show, one of the longest-running and most respected juried art shows in the Southeastern U.S., has been canceled. In an email sent to vendors and volunteers, the organizers cited the safety of their patrons, artists, and volunteers.
"I'm devastated to tell you all that the Bluff Park Art Association has made the decision to cancel this year's art show," reads the email from Jennifer Watts, the Bluff Park Arts Association's show committee chair. "The decision was not made quickly or easily, but after much consideration of the myriad moving parts and safety concerns, we didn't see another reasonable way forward. With the threat of 3" of rain and possible severe weather, we did not feel like we could take a chance with the safety of our artists, volunteers, and patrons."
The Bluff Park Art Association held its first art show in 1965, and it quickly became a popular, anticipated event in the greater Birmingham area. This year's show was to be the association's 63rd annual event. Follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
